The Quality Engineer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving quality systems within a rotational molding manufacturing environment. This role ensures products meet customer specifications, internal standards, and regulatory requirements through data-driven analysis, hands-on inspection, and collaborative problem-solving. The ideal candidate can confidently read engineering prints and accurately use measuring equipment to verify product conformance.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality procedures, inspection plans, and control methods for rotational molding processes

  • Interpret and analyze technical drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications

  • Perform dimensional and visual inspections using measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMM (if applicable)

  • Create and maintain inspection reports, SPC charts, and non-conformance documentation

  • Lead root cause analysis (5 Why, Fishbone, PFMEA) and coordinate corrective and preventive actions

  • Support new product launches through APQP and PPAP activities

  • Monitor in-process and final product quality, identifying trends and improvement opportunities

  • Conduct process audits and layered process reviews

  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance to resolve quality issues and optimize processes

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap, rework, and defects

  • Ensure compliance with ISO/QMS and customer specific requirements

  • Assist in training production employees on quality requirements and inspection methods

  • Maintain document control and revision accuracy for quality records

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints

  • Proficient in using measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, tape measures, height gauges, gauges, and other inspection tools)

  • Working knowledge of SPC, root cause analysis, and problem-solving methodologies

  • Experience in plastic manufacturing, preferably in rotational molding

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills

  • Ability to communicate clearly with cross-functional teams

  • Basic computer skills (Excel, inspection/reporting software)
