Reports To: Machine Zone Lead
Summary:
A Machine Operator is engaged in all activities essential to the efficient workflow of molding operations including but not limited to; plastic molding, material handling, accessing and following work instructions, job setups, 1st pc approvals, general housekeeping and other tasks as assigned by the Zone Lead. Employees are required to have a thorough and comprehensive understanding of all molding activities and functions. Associates are well versed in the required labeling/documentation/customer requirements for all products molded and should be able to provide assistance and coverage for zone lead in their absence. It is expected from the employee that there is a willingness to learn and grow corresponding with the needs of the company.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Observe and follow company safety rules and regulations (PPE).
- Operator needs the ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
- Learn how to operate the different machines.
- Report to supervisor any maintenance, problems with molds, machines/equipment.
- General housekeeping of the assigned work area.
- Mark containers (material buckets) with correct information.
- Work scheduled overtime as required.
- Specific operations including but not limited to deflashing, trimming, cutting, drilling, packaging, using knives, and grinding scrap to chips for recycling.
- Able to install molds.
- Use checking, cooling fixtures as needed.
- Ability to pressure check parts and follow procedures.
- Routinely uses lights to elevate and communicate the need for assistance when necessary.
- Ability to properly use mold release, install venting, service molds, weigh shot weights, label all containers, different types of materials.
- Maintain tool boards on machine.
- Continually service parts on the machine, monitor the job’s progress and be watchful for imperfections.
- Ability to start up and shutdown machine(s).
- Read and understand requirements from work order and work instructions per part.
- Meet quality standards of part being molded.
- Meet required cycles and/or turns per Arm.
- Knowledge to use fire safety equipment and emergency machine shutdown.
